You would like to know more about PDQ Inventory’s support of the Windows Server Semi-Annual Channel (SAC).
Windows Server now comes in two flavors: The Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC), lovingly referred to as Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and the Semi-Annual Channel (SAC), referred to as Windows Server Standard 1709 (at this writing, with the next release likely being Windows Server standard 1803).
The Windows Server SAC is designed to introduce features quickly, currently set at a cadence of twice per year, much like (exactly like) Windows 10. Support for Windows Server SAC is 18 months.
Windows Server LTSC will release every 2 - 3 years. This is the traditional server model Microsoft has adopted in the past. LTSC support is five years of mainstream support and five years of extended support.
PDQ Inventory currently supports scanning Windows Server SAC and reporting on all details available for other supported target operating systems.
Windows Server Standard (SAC) is not supported as a console for PDQ Deploy and PDQ Inventory, which includes support for Central Server modes.
