Purpose:
You receive an Access is Denied error when you attempt to Reboot or Shutdown a target computer using the Reboot/Shutdown tool in PDQ Inventory.
Resolution:
Please verify the following:
- The credentials used to initiate the shutdown have Administrator privileges on the target machine (you'll need these privileges to scan anyway).
- The credentials used to initiate the shutdown have been granted the User Right: "Force shutdown from a remote system". You can set this via a GPO or local policy like shown below:
- GPO: Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment > Force shutdown from a remote system
- Local: Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Security Settings > Local Policies >User Rights Assignment > Force shutdown from a remote system
