Why is installed app inventory outdated or incorrect? - SimpleMDM

You may have noticed that things look a little different. SimpleMDM is now part of the PDQ.com family and we are in the process of moving all of the SimpleMDM Knowledge Base articles to their new home. If you notice any links that are broken or if anything does not work as expected, please email support@simplemdm.com and let us know!

After installing new apps or app updates to a device, the installed apps display may show outdated information. The new app installed may not display. If an app update is installed, the old app version may still display. This information may appear incorrectly for up to an hour after the change occurs on the device.

This information is sometimes outdated due to the design of iOS. iOS does not notify SimpleMDM when it successfully installs or updates an app. In order for SimpleMDM to know the current app inventory of a device, it must check in with the device on a regular basis. Checking in excessively can cause a noticeable drain of the battery, so SimpleMDM must balance data freshness with good battery life.
