Machine reports as unreachable or offline in PDQ deploy

Machine has been re-imaged, and is seen in AD, reachable by PING and, I was able to deploy software to this machine with PDQ prior to the re-image. Wondering what settings I am missing.  Any advice is appreciated.

  • Hi David,

When you ping the computer are you using its name or IP?  PDQ is looking for the FQDN of the client machine.  If you re-imaged the computer then it may not have the permissions to update the DNS record, especially if the computer name changed after re-imaging.  On the client machine you can run ipconfig /registerdns and it should contact the DNS server and publish its FQDN with its current IP.  Additionally, you may need to run ipconfig /flushdns on your workstation (assuming that is where PDQ is installed) and you should be able to ping by FQDN then PDQ should see it correctly.

    Hope that helps.
