PDQ Inventory Collection folder for easier management?
Sam T.
In PDQ Deploy, you can create a folder and put multiple packages under the folder. Can PDQ Inventory do the same?

Sam,
In "PDQ Deploy", if you right click on any folder on the left under "Packages", you can create subfolders to better organize your "Packages". I have done so to separate some "Administrative Tasks" from "Employee Software"
"PDQ Inventory" is very similar in the sense that you can create your own "Dynamic" and "Static" Collections outside of "Active Directory" sync. These buttons can be found in the navigation bar at the top.
You can then run your deployments against the collections you create.
Does this answer your question?
He's looking to Group things together into a folder Heirarchy. Inventory has no "Folder" structure persay.
What you could do is is create a Dynamic Collection, and then inside that Dynamic collection Build your Static/Dynamic collections and then set the Parent to the Top Collection you want everything to be underneath.
Lemme remote into my Inventory box and create an example to export. Working from home today.
I think something like that is what you are looking for?
To do that just create a Dynamic Collection, Name it what you want the top of the tree to be call, and then just drag and drop other collections onto it (It's turn a highlighted blue when it's right). The collection you dropped onto it will show as a child of that parent. Do that as much as you need/want to organize your collections.
There is no "Folder structure" since everything in Inventory is based on a set of conditions (aka SQL queries).Plain old folders can probably be added as a feature. I'll bug them about that.
Hope all this wall of text is helpful.
First of all, I don't know how to Quote Stephen's reply... :(
Second, That is how I am doing right now. I am hoping for something different.... maybe different icon or something.
Oh, You can Change item Appearance!
Right click on a collection and go to Item Appearance
You can make it a section header, and change the Icon etc.
Hope that helps.
NICE!!!! Thanks!
You're welcome. Go nuts! Haha.
Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I just came across it. How does one make the parent collection reflect the totals of the child collections. In other words, in the picture above posted by Sam T., the Adobe Acrobat XI parent collection shows 65 computers and the number of PCs in the child collections add up to 65. My parent collection show either zero or the total number of workstations in our environment.
