Do packages run whether or not a user is logged on?

I was wondering what the default behavior of packages was when being deployed.  Will they run and install if a user is logged on to the machine, or will it wait until the user logs off?

  • Hey Matt,

I was just browsing forum questions and figured that I could chime in here.

The option to run, whether a user is logged on or not, is a conditional option for steps within a package.

If you open up a package and select a step, you can see that there is a "conditions" tab in the right pane.  Selecting that tab will show you a drop down menu for "Logged On State."

This allows you to customize whether you want the step to run only if a user is logged on, not logged on, or either way.  It looks like the default is usually set to "always run."
