Enterprise Auto Deployments?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to setup auto-deployments of standard packages in our Enterprise installation.  We have five technicians, each with Enterprise licenses and responsible for certain sites and workstations.

I'm not sure of the best way to setup the auto deployments.  It doesn't make sense for one tech to be responsible for everyone's machines.  I thought about installing PDQ on a server and just setup the auto deployments on it.  Is that legal with the licensing?  It would just do things like Chrome, Firefox, Flash, etc.  Packages that we want every workstation to always have.

  • We have 2 Enterprise licenses and installed it on a server.

It doesn't matter how many times and where you install it. As long as you pay for the correct number of users.

For auto deployment we imported the packages from the library and attached them to a heartbeat schedule which is linked to the "Software package" (Old) collection in PDQ Inventory.

This will update all your machines to the latest version.

Also check the video tutorial about auto deployment best practices of PDQ itself. Really useful and I think will answer all your questions.

  • Thanks.  We set it up like that and it seems to be working well.
