How can I force PDQ Deploy to use the IP in hosts file?

Due to various external reasons I have some wrong IP addresses in the DNS. If I can keep an up to date hosts file where PDQ deploy server is installed, how can I force PDQ to use the IPs from hosts file?

  • The hosts file is always first in DNS resolution. Is Deploy failing to use the IP address you recorded in the hosts file?

You might need to flush the DNS cache, but I don't think that should be necessary.

    ipconfig /flushdns

  • Hi Colby Bouma, thanks for the answer. I honestly totally forgot to try flushdns.

how I tried it was to save hosts file and close down and reopen PDQ and try to check heartbeat. it timed out (was showing old IP on the collection view, so I thought it didn't use the hosts file somehow)

Now I can't try it due to it being midnight :), but I will try and let you know.
