Message Send Failure

Sending a simple message to multiple computers fails. Using all program defaults (individually sending a message works fine). On error: Continue for the step.

I've canceled and restarted. I restarted the PDQ Deploy Service. No change.

  • These are my deployment settings. I am deploying to all my clients.

  • What error do you get when the deployment fails?

  • There was no error message. It turns out it takes for EVER to run. It took over twenty minutes just to start. It remained (and still does) in queue for a long time before it even starts.

  • Also, there should be a different icon for when a deployment is canceled. Instead of using the failed icon with red, the one with the Yellow triangle should be used, because it did not fail. It was canceled for X reasons; i.e. it hung for too long.

  • I updated the PDQ suit just to see if it makes a difference.

  • I deployed to 800 targets. It's been 5 minutes and it hasn't even started on 1. This package is for the removal of NotePad++. It is a very quick uninstall, but it still takes forever. I already have it set to deploy in chunks but it seems it's not doing it.

Current server specs are Win Server 2016, 16GB RAM, Xeon Silver 4214 2.4GHz.

  • In my experience, deployments with lots of targets take some time to get started.  Be patient with it.

  • Yeah. That's what the concurrent targets/chunk setting is supposed to alleviate. 30 minutes so far. No deployments.

  • How many targets in the chunk?

  • It's in the original post screenshot, 40.

  • 40 is how many you're allowing to run at once.  I have mine set to 8 and 32:

How many targets do you have in your deployment?

  • I had 800 targets. Either way, it should've run as it's done in the past (with large deployments), just in chunks.

  • I'd be happy to get on a Zoom or something with you and take a look at it with you.

  • It definitely shouldn't take that long to start. I recommend contacting support@pdq.com
