Computers showing as offline/heartbeat

Hi there,

Got a bit of an issue here. About 4 of our 117 computers loaded keep going "Offline" in PDQ Inventory. A simple scan with PDQ or waiting the default time before an automatic scan will bring these computers back into online status. These "Offline" computers are actually online and no sleep/hibernation is not happening. I am also able to ping them and access them via RDP.

I have created a couple of Auto-Deployment package schedules and given them a heartbeat trigger (used for computers that we do take offline from time to time).

Because of this phenomenon, computers that PDQ sees go offline and then come back up constantly are retrying to reinstall/update the software listed in the auto-deployment. For example, every few minutes, a user opens mozilla firefox fine.........then a few minutes later Firefox will silently reinstall....then fine....then not. If I am making any sense, What should I do?

    1. What are your settings under "Preferences --> Network"?
    2. Are those 4 computers on a different subnet?
    3. You can solve the problem of computers re-receiving a deployment by only deploying to a collection of "outdated" computers. This way computers that are up to date won't keep getting hit.
