Firefox Home Page

Hey guys. First I want to say that I love PDQ Inventory and Deploy. I use it to push out all kinds of updates including the latest Firefox releases here at the university where I work. I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to set the default home page and perhaps other settings after deploying Firefox or packaging it up in such a way that it deploys with that home page and settings. I heard of a program called FFDeploy but it's been discontinued and I did not manage to get it to work. Thanks in advanced.

  • Are you in a Active Directory enviroment? Which FF version do you want to set up.

  • Yes. We presently have 13.0.1, the latest release, installed on all the machines. I would like to be able to do this with Google Chrome as well if possible. Thank you!

  • For Chrome, you might check the Chrome group policy http://www.chromium.org/administrators/policy-templates

As for firefox, check this wiki https://wiki.mozilla.org/Deployment:Deploying_Firefox

  • The FireFox ADM can be found here http://sourceforge.net/projects/firefoxadm/ , but I am not sure if it works with your FF version. You have to try it first.

  • SelfMan, thank you for your help! I had actually come across the Mozilla wiki when searching for a solution but I did not think it was relevant. After actually reading it thoroughly, I figured out how to do it. It is working with the latest Firefox 13.0.1. I also discovered about Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release) which I did not know about. I may consider switching us over to the ESR releases to give myself less work lol. Thank you for the Chrome information also!
