Is it possible to schedule a deployment to dynamic collections.

Is it possible to schedule a deployment to dynamic collections.

I notice in PDQ deploy, that you need to specify a target list.

Just wondering if it is possible to schedule a deployment for a package that the target list that changes.

Cheers,

  • Yes, you can.  Any of the targets you use for a schedule will be retrieved at the time the schedule is run, so if you target an AD container or PDQ Inventory collection then every time the schedule is run the current members of that collection will deployed to.

Edit:  I should clarify that this requires that you "Link to" the collection instead of import it.  When you import then the computers in the collection are added immediately as individual targets.

  • Its actually one of my favourite features! I usually create a collection for machines that are online and without the specific application.

I then schedule a deployment of the app to that collection, normally with an hourly with a "scan after deployment - applications" flag set.
