Installer Failing when deploying Lync 2010

Hello,

I recently downloaded and installed PDQ deploy on my PC and my Deployment server. When trying to deploy a an instant messaging application called Lyncs I receive the following error message "Installer returned error code -532459699" and the program does not get pushed. I need to install this program to multiple PC's any reason why I am getting this error message.

  • Hi Andrew, please change your parameters from /q to /Silent

Please let us know if this works for you.

  • To silently install Lync 2010 use the following parameters:

    /Install /Silent

    (See attachment)

  • I'm having a similar problem uninstalling Lync 2010. I have setup the package but continually get Package returned error code 1. If I run the setup from the command prompt it works fine.

  • Will you add a screenshot of your package window (similar to the shot that Shane posted above?

  • Screenshot added as requested. We have two packages, one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit, both same commands but run from different folders. Both packages fail with the same error. I have tried a batch file but that fails in the same way.

  • Please try to uppercase the first letters in Install and Silent. We've heard that sometimes Lync can be case sensitive. Let us know if this works. Also, is this application only a setup.exe or are there other files needed during the install?

  • Hi Shawn,

Here's the file structure of Lync for 32-64 bit installs.

    amd64 - LyncSetup.exe

                    Support (folder) - Communicator.adm

    i386 - LyncSetup.exe

               Support (folder) - Communicator.adm

I've tried copying only the LyncSetup.exe and ran it without the support folder and it works fine.

  • I just had to go through hell and high water to get this to a number of people. Easy way:

Set an install of Silverlight (Free package from the Library or download the .exe and use /q) first.

PC's with error code 1 on a silent install of Lync 2010 Attendee is if Silverlight is not on the PC. I had 30 systems to deploy to, all but 2 failed. I got into some of the PC's to find out what was happening. I noticed the install would download and install Silverlight. That is most likely not happening on a silent install. After adding Silverlight first to the install package, all the rest succeeded.

Oh, and the command I used on the AttendeeSetupAdmin.exe is /quiet (/q may work too).
