First Time Using PDQ Deploy - Stuck on 'Running'
It's my first time running PDQ Deploy and and i have an instaler with a silent switch /s that i know works as i tested it on my own computer running it from the command line. It installed in the background no problem.
I've created the package, deployed it to a computer to test, I see it goes through the copying stage but then just sits in the 'Running' stage.
I'm working on a worgroup and have firewall turned off on my client and off on my computer. UAC is also disabled. i successfully use spiceworks in this environment. i've changed credentials to the point where it tells me they are wrong so i dont think that is the problem but i just have the local Administrator account as the username and the password. I dont have it set as workgroup\administrator as it tells me this doesn't work.
As i said i cant really see where i've gone wrong, can anyone point me in the right direction with what to test next?
Thanks.

What application are you trying to install?
I'm purely just testing it and trying to get it working. I'm testing it using IMG Burn.exe. I used an app to find that the silent switch is /s and like i said if i run from the command line setup.exe /s on my own computer it installs fine so i assumed the app wouldnt be the problem?
It depends on the app being installed. Some apps expect an install to occur with a user logged on, such as with your manual install. Are you using the same account to install via PDQ that you used when installing manually?
Is your install file just a single EXE, or are there other files that are needed during the install?
In PDQ, please go to File > Export and attach the XML file that is generated. This will allow us to load it into our lab.
I've tried it with the user logged on and just sat at the logon screen. It is a single EXE
Ok i've attached the XML file.
Thanks!
OK - please delete the entry in the "Command Line" field and uncheck the custom checkbox.
We're actually going to change this in the next release to make it more clear. Instead of using the "Command Line" field, please put the /s in the Parameters field. The command line field should be manually changed only in rare circumstances.
Adding revised XML file to import (File > Import).
OK figured it out. It was a simple case of /s not working but /S working. i didn't think it would be case sensitive.....
This is not the first time it happend.
@Shawn this should definitely go to the knowledge base. (switches and their case sensitivity)
^^ i'd strongly agree, will save everyone a lot of time for something that is so simple
Good point. I think we'll make add it to the interface (in PDQ Deploy) as well.
Sorry that I didn't jump on this until now. Any application that is packaged in Nullsoft Install System (such as ImgBurn) will need an uppercase /S for silent.
The case-sensitivity is set by the either the application vendor (e.g. Microsoft) or the installer system used (e.g. Nullsoft). PDQ Deploy doesn't force case-sensitivity.
Hi, i'm totally new to PDQ, but sometimes it's still stucks on the RUNNING even with /S paramater
:/
Alexander, the /S isn't a universal silent parameter. Each application can be different. If you are still stuck on running then it's a very good chance that there is a different silent parameter.
What app are you trying to install?
Shawn, yes, i got it, i've solve problem with XLite installing before, another few problematical is the JAVA updates and Comodo antivirus
