PDQ Deploy / Adobe Reader

New guy to PDQ. here  In the past I had done my Adobe Reader updates via GPO.

So on my workstations is installed Adobe Reader XI (11.0.4) MUI  which I than pushed out Adobe Reader XI (11.0.10) via PDQ Deploy which worked.  However the problem that I'm left with now is that their are 2 versions of Adobe Reader installed on the workstations (version 11.0.4 and 11.0.10)  apparently the install doesn't upgrade previous versions installed. What is the best way to remove 11.0.4?  I've looked at uninstall string for 11.0.4 however I am not been completely successful removing 11.0.4 and not having some strange issues with 11.0.10.

Any ideas how to remove 11.0.4?   Thanks.

  • In the MSI world these are considered two different applications (MUI vs non-MUI). If you are seeing problems I would recommend uninstalling both and then reinstalling 11.0.10. A patch will replace a previous version of the application but, as mentioned, Adobe considers the MUI to be a separate app.

You can uninstall both fairly easily with PDQ Deploy. Just take the two Uninstall strings and place them into one Command Step. Add the return code 1605 to the Success Codes field and you should be good to go.
