deployment-status in system tray

Hy folks

does anyone know if there is a way to inform the user that an installation is performed? like a balloon tip in system tray  "hey user, install is in progress. Please wait ..."

Messagebox works well to inform at the start/end of an deploy, but users don't see the progress.

Thanks for tips
Christoph

  • Unfortunately there is not a way to inform the user that an installation is in progress. The great new is: the very nature of how PDQ handles deployments, e.g. requiring silent installations, you shouldn't need to inform the user that an installation is happening and that they need to wait. Now in cases where the deployment is going to be impactful to their performance, it might be good to let them know in advance.

  • I found a open source pop-up balloon utility, the name is notifu from paralint.

Beteween the steps i do a command like:

    notifu64.exe /p "My Company Name" /m "Update 1 of 4 is installed ...\please wait..." /q /w /d 3000 /t info

In Options of the steps select run as "Logged on User".
    Works like a charm
