  • Hi Gretchen,
The answer is yes. The best solution is likely to use the IE Administration Kit. Here's our take on that: PDQ Deploy and IEAK 11

You can make the default search provider Google using other methods, but with some major qualifications and warnings. First, the search provider will always be Google, maybe, meaning your users will not have the option of using some other search engine, but the settings can also stop working for unknown reasons and revert back to the previous search engine. For IE 10, and likely 11 you would edit HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\ and/or HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\. The following links are meant to be informative only, maybe only merely entertaining. I haven't tested any of the solutions here, and recommend that any changes you wish to implement using the suggestions on either site be thoroughly tested in a sandbox prior to production implementation.
