Trying to deploy software to windows 10

I am trying to use PDQ Deploy to deploy chrome to a few of our new Windows 10 surfaces.  The message I get is that the target computer is offline.  The computers are online.  However, they are logged in by people that do not have admin rights.  Will still stop the install?  If not, what is the cause of this issue.

Thanks

  • What is the error that you are seeing? Is it Computer Offline or Computer Offline or Not Available? If the computers are indeed online (but are reported as offline) then chances are that one of the following issues exists:

    1. File and Print Sharing is not enabled on the targets. When this happens these computers can appear to be offline to PDQ Deploy because they do not respond to connection requests (the same way an offline computer wouldn't respond).
    2. DNS is outdated. It could be that the computers you are attempting to reach have a different IP address than the one that DNS resolves.
    3. Your offline settings are set to Use Ping for Offline Testing AND the targets either don't respond to a ping within 2 seconds or ICMP echo requests (responding to pings) have been disabled.

Here is a forum post describing the requirements for PDQ Deploy. This should help you get up and running.
