Mozilla Firefox old versions keep appearing in PDQ Inventory

I am using the package from PDQ to handle our Firefox deployments.  For the most part they work but for a few people, they end up with two versions of Firefox in my inventory report.  As an example, one user still has version 11 but also has the latest version 45.0.1.   After looking through his machine, I believe there is still some remnant of Firefox 11 in registry that PDQ is picking up.

I tried uninstalling everything and it works.  However once I install the newest version of Firefox on his machine, the old entry reappears again.

Any thoughts?

  • If you open "Programs and Features" on that machine do both versions appear?

  • No just the new version appears

PDQ is picking the old version number from somewhere....

  • Do you have multiple scan profiles in Inventory? That can cause old data to stick around. If so, you either need to run all of the scan profiles that have the Applications scanner in them, or delete them.

  • I'm not sure.  WHat do you mean by multiple scan profiles and where can I check for this?

I only use one user account for scan credentials.  I also have a report called Firefox Versions that looks for all versions of firefox on a machine and the results correspond with what I see on the Inventory screen.

  • I am seeing the same issue, did you happen to figure out what the fix is?

    Thanks.

  • @Carter Daniels

Do the erroneous entries have an Uninstall string like "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe", or something in "C:\Users"? Also, what is the Registry Path of the erroneous entries?
