UNDER 1GB of RAM

There exists a problem with the RAM collection.....the pc's only show if the computers have exactly 2gb or more ram.....NOT if they have, say.....960mb....or 1.5gb....

it apperas MB is not attributed to GB.....I setup a rule myself for ALL pc's under 1GB of RAM.....becuase for me....What is LOW is more important to fix than what is high.....with respect to total system RAM.

I hope this makes sense...The rule just does not work correctly...both a new rule and the preset rule.....PLEASE HELP

  • Are you using the Memory GB or Memory MB filter fields?  Memory GB rounds the value, so 960mb would be rounded to 1 GB.  If you use the Memory MB filter then you should get what you want.  Using Memory MB < 1,024 should give you what you want.

  • I am not kidding around...this is exactly what I see after I apply the filter...

  • You are using the Memory Module filter. Instead use a Computer filter and choose Memory MB. Your current filter will show any computer that has any memory module whose capacity is less than 1024 MB. Your systems probably have 2 or 4 memory modules each and if any of those modules are less than 1,024 MB the computer would show up in your collection.

The Memory MB and Memory GB filters in the Computer table represent the total amount of memory in the computer... basically the sum of all the individual memory modules.

  • The memory column rounds once it gets above 1 GB, so 1.8 GB will show as 2 GB.

I think we'll want to change the formatting of this column to show decimal values, so that it's 1.8 instead.  I've added this to our update roadmap.

  • Just to clarify, you are getting computers with less than 1,900 MB of memory, but the column makes it look like they have more.
