Computers been scanned exceeds computers in directory

Hei,

A strange error keeps cropping up everytime I install PDQ Inventory and scan AD for computers: PDQ insists on scanning more computers than I actually have!

I have a registered 808 computers in the domain, but PDQ insists on scanning 40000+ computers! And when checking the active scanning I see that it has duplicated computer names, repeatedly.

I first noticed this issue when I installed PDQ on a second pc and imported the information from my main PDQ machine. It also duplicated the pc scanning count, but by only a few thousand. Uninstall & reinstall, issue remained.

These images are taken from a pc that was newly setup yesterday and where PDQ has only been installed once.

Any suggestions why its doing what its doing?

  • Forgot to mention - I have NOT imported the information from my main PDQ pc. This scanning info is what PDQ has decided for itself. PDQ was installed with standard settings and I have not made any changes.

  • What version of PDQ Inventory are you running? This issue was resolved in the last update and we want to make sure it hasn't reappeared.

  • I just want to add that the extra scans you are seeing are only duplicates showing in the list, they aren't actual scans.  One scan may show up multiple times, but the computer is only being scanned once.

  • Version is 1.1 running in Free mode - am updating to new version now.

@Adam Ruth - is there a reason for this behaviour and is it strictly limited to a duplication entry in PDQ or is there also a correlating affect on the network? Unfortunately I did not do a network traffic check when I noticed the scanning error.

  • It's just a duplication in the display, one scan is being shown more than once in the list.
