How to detect Internet Explorer 10 and 11?

When I did collections for the different versions of Internet Explorer - using the column "IE Version" - I noticed that Versions 8 and 9 appear in that collections as expected but versions 10 and 11 do not, no matter of the operand - i.e. "Starts with" or "Is Not Lower Than" - used !

Does anyone know the reason for this and perhaps a way to still collect this Information?

Regards
Frank

  • Hi Frank,

What version of PDQ Inventory are you using? Inventory 2.1 (released almost a year ago) addressed this issue. (The issue was that Microsoft changed the registry value for identifying IE 10 about a year ago).

Make sure you are using the latest version (at this writing it is PDQ Inventory 3.0 Release 3) and I am unable to duplicate the problem. Feel free to import the attached IE Collections.

  • Hi Shane,
    thank you for your advice!

Well, your example collections do work - of course ;-)  - so I was searching for the differences between yours and mine.
The filter itself is the same: "IE Version - Starts with - 11" but the difference is the "Drill down..." Option being set in my collection.
And this has lead me to the real solution for my issue: In my PDQ Inventory the top level collection "Internet Explorer" has the filter "IE Version - Matches Expression - ^(6|7|8|9)" which is probably a remainder of an old Version of PDQ Inventory (I am using 3.0 rel. 2 btw.)

So has has once again been a p.i.c.n.i.c.-issue: problem in chair - not in Computer :-D

    Kind regards
    Frank
