When will a remote console be available for PDQ Deploy?

When will a remote console be available for PDQ Deploy?  We have 2 admins (and 2 pro licenses) and a single PDQ Deploy server.  I would like the admins to be able to access the console from their laptops as well as from the PDQ Deploy server.

  • I also would like to have a remote console.  Real bummer to have to RDP into the server to use the PDQ.  I love the program, be this would be a great feature to add.

  • While we have internally discussed this (at length) we haven't decided when or if it will be offered. If it ever is offered, it would be either an additional product or an option that could be enabled within Enterprise mode.

PDQ Deploy was designed to have a single administrator running the console from their workstation. In organizations with multiple administrators we do offer the ability to share packages, deployment history, etc. with other consoles when the appropriate Enterprise licenses have been purchased. Many of our larger customers utilize these Sharing features.

The lack of a centralized database with multiple consoles is one of the things that separates us from many of our competitors (SCCM, Tivoli, etc.) and the low price of our products definitely reflect that difference. We love that PDQ Deploy and PDQ Inventory can be set up and running in just a few minutes. A centralized database adds a much higher level of complexity for our users and for our development and support. Thus we are hesitant to implement this at our current price point.

  • Shane, the core fact about price point is the gotcha for me with PDQ. And there are many gotcha's with PDQ that make it on a higher plain from most apps we use in our daily flow. However, you boys and girls make such good products, you need to start looking at pulling sites together, because we are all with you, praying you make this happen. For us, if PDQ moved into Remote Application Management. We would pay for it. If you moved into remote inventory, we would pay for it. There isn't to my mind any there that does what you have created. There must be a way to remotely interact with each database, pull from it and manipulate it with chain databases together. A 3rd product and RMM+deploy seems only the next logical step.
