about wake on lan

dear sirs ...

wake on lan works perfectly with PDQ inventory free edition ... but what I want to know ... is how does pdq send the packets ... because when I try to use the command " wol MAC ADDRESS" from cmd it say packets sent successfully but the computer doesn't actually wake ... can you please tell me how does it work ?

note : I send the wake on lan packets from a different VLAN ... my vlan .52.x the destination .54.x

The WOL features in PDQ Deploy use the same methods that are used in Inventory. Access to Inventory is required since that is where PDQ Deploy will extract the MAC Address and subnet information for the target computer.
