Storage 12R2: Unable to connect to ADMIN$

I've used the trial of PDQ Deploy Enterprise, and was greatly satisfied with it.  I've already put in a purchase request.  Just waiting until the people with the purse strings give me the thumbs up.

I tried it on my end workstation, and figured I would put it on one of our Dell NX400 NAS units which has much greater bandwidth capacity across our large campus.  The NX400 is running Storage Server 2012 R2.  PDQ Deploy is in free mode for now until I get the green light to grab enterprise.

The problem is that this machine cannot deploy to any systems whatsoever.  From my workstation, the deployment connects and begins copying files no problem.  On the NX400 box... it fails saying that the host is unreachable or offline.

I can ping the hostname, as well as the IP of the targets.  The trust relationship is valid.  The NX400 was temporarily applied the same GPOs as my workstation for testing purposes, and after a gpupdate /force and a restart, it still would not push out deployments.  I tried to navigate to the ADMIN$ share, and was unable to with both IP and hostname.  I've tried granting the account I use for deploy a wide variety of access, and nothing works.

Any ideas?

  • From the NX400 try to open the target machine admin share. \\targetmachine\Admin$ if it fails its a server problem or it could be a rule on the network firewall, network sharing is not enabled on the server, UAC is enabled, LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy registry its not created or has another value.
