Implementing PQD Inventory (SQL report list) into SharePoint?

I have created SQL reports in PDQ Inventory. What are the steps to output the PDQ Inventory report in SharePoint? I was thinking about connecting the PDQ Inventory data to a MS SQL server, and then establishing a external data connection from SharePoint to the MS SQL server with PDQ Inventory information. Any best practice suggestions? Please let me know!!
