Alert for new software installs?

Is it possible to set PDQ Inventory to alert me whenever any new software is installed on any PC?

Boss wants to monitor if any users try to install software on their own.

    I have two reports that automatically run every day at 11AM and get emailed to me.

    Report #1 = list of newly installed or updated software (This is generally small list of 5-6 programs, mostly things like Java or Flash updates) This makes it easy at a glance to quickly spot unwanted program installs.

    Report #2 = Full list of newly install programs or updated programs including the computers that they were installed in. This is generally a long list because if java was updated on 800 PC's all 800 PC's will show up in the report.

    Report #2 sounds useful. How would you set a scan for that?

    This is what I'm using. I set these two report up in an auto report that gets emailed out to me every day. I set the email address as my cellphone numbers email to SMS address so that I receive it as a text message on my phone. (I tend to respond faster to SMS than email)

    Ok, working further with this idea and those reports.

    They seem to report some installs, but not others.

    It shows me that Adobe Reader and Flash have been installed, but won't show me Google Toolbar, or VLC player.

    It shows Chrome was installed, but not Firefox.

    But, the PC shows up in collections where I have it set to show PCs with those apps, so the program can at least recognize they are installed, but why not hitting on install dates?

     

    Weird stuff. Still trying to tweak.

    Anyone with info would be appreciated.

    depending on how the software installs, it PDQ may not be able to get an install date. Not all software play by the rules or follow the correct guidelines.

    Would be nice if the PDQ inventory while running a scan would compare its previouse scan and if the software is new since the last scan mark it as being installed on that day.
