Scan Profiles - File scanning

File scanning is not remaining accurate....

I'm using a scan profile to scan if a file exists on a computer. The scan profile finds the file and adds it to the computers inventory. However if I remove the file and re-run the scan profile, in inventory the computer still shows that it has the file when it does not. The file scan info is only being updated if the file changes and not being removed if the file no longer exists on the computer.

  • Hi,

I'd wager dollars to donuts that you have more than one Scan Profile that has picked up this file. Files are maintained per scan profile. Find the other scan profile and run the scan. (and any other scan profiles that can find this file). After scanning them the file should be removed from the database.

  • that was the problem.

I had a scan profile that only scans for the one file (use to scan after deployment rather than running a full scan)

I then also added the file scan inside the standard scan so it would update when the standard scan runs.

Like you said for it to truly update and reflect correct results It had to run both scan profiles (eliminating the point of creating its own separate scan profile).
