Is there a way to only scan if a registry key is present?
Hello!
Is there a way to only perform PDQ Inventory scans if a registry key is not present? I have some machines that i would like to separate out of my weekly scans other than moving them to a different OU.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Another "workaround" would be to create a schedule in Deploy that you Link to the targets in whichever collections you'd like. For the deployment you can create a Zero-impact package like a dir command and then set that scan profile as your Scan After profile. This will require a Pro or higher license of Deploy and Inventory.
Create A Zero-Impact Package To Test Deployments & Schedules
You would have to create a new Dynamic collection that contains only computers without the registry key. Then set your inventory scans to target that collection.
Once a computer is scanned and it is found to have the registry key it will fall out of the Dynamic Collection and effectively stop being scanned.
Also keep in mind that scans are how inventory knows that a computer has or doesn't have a registry key so once it stops scanning the computers info wont update or change until its scanned again.
Hi Mmuni, thanks for the response and that makes sense!

Hmmm... lets back up a minute, looks like scan profiles don't allow you to set a target, they just scan everything.
You may have to do this one manually. remove all the scan profile triggers so it doesn't keep scanning everything. Then with that same dynamic collections of computers that DO NOT have the registry key you will have to check it from time to time. Select all computers in that dynamic group, right click and tell it to scan them and they will drop out of the dynamic group.
One other thing you could do to make it half way automated is to just let it scan everything as normal, but create a dynamic group for computers that DO HAVE the registry key. This way as new computers show up they will be scanned as frequently as you have scans scheduled but from time to time you go in to the "DOSE HAVE REG Key" group, select them all and right click and set them not to scan. When you do it like this only new computers will continue to be scanned until you go in and manually tell it to stop scanning all with reg key at witch point the new ones with reg key will be added to the do not scan.
Thank you again to you both - really appreciate the guidance!

Paul
