When Deploying Updates / Software Question

So we purchased PDQ Inventory and Deploy and I had a quick question about deployment I cannot seem to find.

We are looking to start upgrading Java and Adobe Reader to all the latest versions and updates.

Some computers do already have the latest version but when I seem to test the deployment it will uninstall it even if its the latest version. Is there a way to have the deployment check first before it uninstalls and reinstalls the same version?

Thanks

  • What he linked  is exactly right. PDQ inventory has built in collections for Java and Adobe, so if the inventory picks up it has  the latest it'll  show up in the Latest collection. If it has an old version it'll be in the old collection.

  • Thanks I was just looking at that I forgot I can link to a Inventory collections.

So if I wanted to link to a older RunTime Collection but only do workstations is there a way to also limit it by OS on the same deployment?

  • If you download the Package you can customize which OS it goes to.  If you are wanting to use Auto Deploy you'd likely have to create your own collection based of the Admin Arsenal provided one and than specify only the OS you are wanting.

  • You can nest Collections.
