Reset Successful Deployment Indicator

We have a package that deploys on a heartbeat schedule to an Inventory dynamic collection.  If a machine gets that package, but then goes through OSD, we need the package to deploy again.

The issue that we run into is that although the re-imaged computer gets correctly placed into the dynamic collection, Deploy never sends the package to it again - I'm guessing because it shows it already succeeded.

Is there a way to reset the flag that shows it as a successful deployment so that it will deploy again with heartbeat? Or is there something else I'm missing?

  • I'd just clear the "Stop deploying to computers once they succeed flag" on the package. That way when the machines go through onboarding again they will get the package again.

  • I started to reply why that's problematic, but then finally got over that last hurdle.  I was thinking that we don't want the app re-deploying on every heartbeat, but since it will drop out of the dynamic collection, it won't keep installing.

I wasn't thinking all the way through, or at least clearly enough.  Thanks for getting me there!

  • No problem. We do a similar thing with our onboarding in that they get added/removed from a dynamic collection so it works well to clear the flag. Glad to help!

  • One of the new features in Deploy 10 is the ability to delete a computer's history from all schedules on the Computer History tab so you don't have to touch each schedule and delete the computers.
