PDQ Inventory Service randomly stopping
I'm going through my steps trying to point the finger at just what is going wrong.
PDQ Inventory 15.1 Central Server mode with 6 console users and ~800 monitored machines (server 2012R2 then 2016 - latest patches, Hyper-V VM on Failover Cluster with 6 cores and 16 GB of memory)
Originally on Server 2012r2, Inventory was failing about ever hour or so possibly related to the amount of scanning going on. This was usually temp fixed by just starting the service back up.
I needed to upgrade that VM to Server 2016 anyway so I created a fresh VM with Server 2016 and moved over in accordance with https://support.pdq.com/hc/en-us/articles/220509567-Moving-PDQ-Deploy-to-another-computer
Everything moved over fine and the install appeared solid for about a day. I just got a call that our admins couldn't connect. Sure enough the service stopped again.
Filtering the event log for application errors related to .net/pdqinv/dep I only see 3 issues from today and they all involve PDQ Deploy.
I have a service failure clocked in yesterday afternoon ( I'm guessing it's been down since then) "The PDQ Inventory service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 time(s)." policy is to fail once then stop.
Honestly I'm just looking for a place to start digging into why this is happening, I'd prefer to have some kind of better idea of what the heck is going on before opening a ticket. Is there a better location for logging in PDQ Inventory to find out what exactly keeps causing this?

Sorry, I cannot help you but wanted to let you and PDQ staff know that I have the same problem with both deploy and inventory.
Same problem here a few days ago.
I removed the WMI scan for all event log errors because i noticed this scan produced to much traffic (over VPN), takes to long and the DB growth quickly from under 600mb to over 3GB after a few Scans.
This scan kills Inventory in my constellation with 9 Locations over VPN, especially if you build custom collections based on this data.
Maybe this hint helps.
Any resolution to this? I have 2 customers that the inventory services stops about once a week. Have the latest 16.2 installed now, had 15.2 prior. We just changed them from stand alone to client / server so will see in about a week. Any thoughts would be great.
