PDQ Inventory - Blank System Info

Hello all, I am working with Intel NUCs and I noticed that some System information does not populate in Windows 10 (with Windows 7, same unit populates). On some models I see "ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ" as value. Any suggestion on how to make this work? I'm mainly interested in Make & Model. Thanks all.

Example (Windows 10):

  • I just noticed this is not a PDQ issue, and more of a Windows issue. Just performed a systeminfo locally and the data is missing there as well. I'll have to find out why this information disappears after the upgrade. Maybe there is a driver that allows Windows 10 to interface with the hardware to grab this information.

    I have the same issue with all our NUCs if you happen to find a solution please share! :)

  • I would check for BIOS updates as well.

    FYI....that information is pulled from here HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SystemInformation

  • @Callan

    Online discussions say that this is by design as the NUCs are suppose to be for custom/embedded use and that the system builder is suppose to configure this info via Intel's UEFI shell. But it still does not explain why the data was populating in Windows 7 (right before Windows 10).

    @Dan

    BIOS up to date. This is happening on 2 different models and multiple units. The information is not in registry (just as systeminfo is missing this info).
