Collection Membership Troubles

So as my network has grown and I've added my own software to check for to PDQI collections, I've come across a problem - my "software to update" report is not keeping up.

This report is based around the computers being members of a collection with "(Old)" in their name, and gives me every computer in my org that needs a software update, regardless of program.

This makes it easy to batch-push updates in an environment where we can't use heartbeat triggers (as they false-positive and fail on other machines booting and picking up an IP that PDQ already has in its system).

The problem comes in that the collections the report is based on take forever to update, or have to be done one by one manually.

There's a couple ways I can see this being fixed:
1) Is there a way to make it so that when a report runs it updates all the memberships of any collection it touches?
2) Is there a way to make every collection update their membership manually (all at once)?

I've tried F5 but that does something different (and closes all my report windows for some weird reason). I tried the "undocumented" CRTL-ALT-SHIFT-F12. The only way to get it to update is to wait upwards of 20 minutes to get there on its own, or to manually hunt down the collection and click in it.

The last one is how I currently do it, but that takes a lot of time to do and cuts down tremendously on the time savings that PDQ used to provide me when I had less collections.

Anyone have a workaround to this or a similar problem?

Thanks,
-Chris

  • I have opened internal bug tickets for your report refresh and collection membership report issues. I have no ETA on when/if they will be fixed. Unfortunately I don't know of any additional workarounds for you.
