Inventory scans "returning data" for hours

I'm new to using PDQ Inventory and I've got a daily scan that runs to report on applications on all of my machines.

My struggle is, a number of machines are stuck "returning data" for hours (up to 16 hours) according to Inventory. They're all laptops which are either home based (VPN), or in-house where they're bouncing between corp WiFi and corp LAN.

In Inventory -> Preferences -> Performance, I've got: Computer Scan time out = 15 min WMI timeout = 240 seconds Concurrent scans = 24 Service Manager TCP Connection = default

Inventory -> Preferences -> Network Test Multiple Addresses in Name Resolution is checked.

Any suggestions?
