Computer scan not working

I would be grateful for any help troubleshooting an issue with PDQ Inventory. I am having mixed results with scanning computers on my domain. The majority of the time the scan status goes back and forth between Running to Reconnecting, over and over until it finally times out.

Remote Repair shows no failures.

Verified the Windows Firewall is turned off.

Verified TCP ports 135, 139, 445 are open.

Verified the scan user has access to IPC$ and ADMIN$

Verified Network Adapter has necessary protocols enabled.

  • Could your antivirus be interfering? Here is our list of AV exclusions: https://support.pdq.com/knowledge-base/884

Also, there are more ports that may need to be opened: https://support.pdq.com/knowledge-base/1023

If neither of those help, please contact support@pdq.com

  • Beside firewall and open ports, check the Network Type. A "public" Network hides the device and blocks the ping, even if the device is member in a local domain PDQ Inventory is not able to see the devices in this mode, set the Network to "private" to solve the problem
