Wireless or laptops?

So I have been trying to do a scan to all the devices I have and to push software. For some reason even if the machine is on, the laptop wont be scanned. Shows that the device is offline or compute name could not be found error. I would be on the phone with a user and their machine is on the network. I know we have different buildings but same network, different vlans and such. What can I do to allow me to use this on laptops?

  • I have run into this also. Check the IP address on the laptop and compare it to the IP stored in PDQ Inventory. If the laptop IP address has changed since it was first scanned, PDQ Inventory may not be finding it. I can't be sure but it appears that PDQ Inventory may be using the IP address instead of the MAC address to see if a computer is still online.

I had a laptop and a desktop both showing the same IP in PDQ Inventory, when in fact the laptop IP had changed since it was first scanned. When I'd power off the desktop PC, the laptop would show offline in PDQ.
