AD OU not syncing

I've got a number of computers in an OU that are not being synced to Inventory like all the others. The OU doesn't appear in the Inventory domain tree either. I checked that these devices have the dNSHostName attribute set, and they all do.
I then tried removing the container and adding it back in again.
What else can I try?

If you select the container and select Sync Now, what does the last sync status say at the bottom?

It says 'syncing' followed by 'success'.

So it seems to be reading the OU without errors. By chance are any of these machines disabled?
No, these machines are very much active. I moved them into the default Domain Computers OU and they all appeared in Inventory. As it happens the OU they were in is no longer required, but it would be good to understand why they didn't register before.
