Access Denied to Computer's Service Manager
Hi, I've recently started having an issue with PDQ Deploy. I'm using PDQ Deploy Enterprise, version 16.1.0.0. I'm getting the "Access denied to computer's service manager" message when I try to deploy to PCs. I've never had this issue before. I'm trying to deploy to Windows 10 1803 computers that are domain-joined. The account I'm deploying with is the domain administrator account.
I found an article here that had several suggestions, but none of them worked: https://support.pdq.com/knowledge-base/1143
What I've checked so far:
- DNS service is running on both the server and client machine
- Windows Firewall is turned OFF (the way our environment is set up, we don't use Windows Firewall)
- The client computer has Domain Admins listed in the Administrator user group
- Have restarted the PDQ Deploy background service
- Verified that PDQ Deploy is not running as Local System
- Created the SCMApiConnectionParam entry in the server's registry (as the article linked above recommended).
I feel like this is a Windows firewall issue. I can enable the Firewall and it will successfully deploy. Unfortunately, the way these PCs are set up, I can't leave Windows firewall enabled.
Any other ideas on what to check? Thanks!

In the past, we've seen people have this issue with the firewall. If possible, would you mind trying the following: enable the firewall, set the recommended exceptions, and then disable the firewall again.
Chris, I tried that--no change. I've noticed it's now affecting several of my Server 2016 machines as well. If I leave the firewall enabled (with exceptions defined), I can deploy with no problem.
As strange as it sounds I have actually gotten this error when the disk is full on the target PC.
Yes, I can confirm that it says this when the C: drive is full.
