Disable Notifications in Windows 7

I would like a package that disables Windows 7 print notifications. Is it possible to build that into PDQ deploy so I can push it out to 386 computers?

Thanks.

  • You will need to do a registry edit. You can use CMD to import registry with PDQ, or set up a group policy preference.

Create .reg file with the following (i.e. printerballoon.reg.

        Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\Settings]
    “EnableBalloonNotificationsRemote”=dword:00000000
    “EnableBalloonNotificationsLocal”=dword:00000000

Then call the file with CMD and whatever location you have the script at.

    regedit /s "printerballoon.reg"

Other methods is to disable the balloon notification in GP, however that will also disable Windows balloon that lets you know if an anti-virus is not configured. Hope this helps.
