Collection Filter Application Version with comparison version between

Hello, I'm looking for the best way to use the "Version Between" comparison when filtering on an application version in a collection filter.

We have some PCs running VMWare Workstation v12, v14, and v15 and want to upgrade only those running v14. So, I'm trying to make a collection of just those PCs with base v14 that included, v14.1.5, 14.1.7, etc.

This seems like appropriate use for Version Between, and maybe I'm missing something obvious, but I've not had any luck getting it to work.

Thanks!! -Mary

  • Application --> Version --> Version Between

    It's built in already.

  • Right, but what do I use as the value to see only v14?

  • Version equals 14

  • How about Version --> starts with --> 14

  • Version equals 14 gives me no results, but starts with 14 works perfectly. Thanks!

    If anyone knows how, I am still curious about the right syntax to make "Version Between" work.

  • You would still use the syntax I mentioned earlier (Application --> Version --> Version Between) but PDQ now gives you two metrics to fill in. You need to be specific with the versions, however. So in your instance, using v14 and v15 won't work since you have versions 14.1.5, 14.1.7, etc. It would have to be something like 14.1.5 and 15.0.1.

  • Ah!....I re-read your response several times...I completely missed the Value 2 column. Thank you! ...clearly something obvious!
