I'm designing a report intended to allow the periodic refresh (probably every month or so) of the workstation and server data held in my customer's CMDB. They are using a SaaS product called Vision Servicedesk that includes CMDB capabilities. We had a look at the auto-discover capabilities it had and quickly decided that since we already have licensing for PDQI, it makes sense to use these superior abilities and just import the data we need into the Vision CMDB.
For simplicity's sake, lets say I want to import into Vision from a CSV with columns for
*hostname *vendor *model *CI Type
, where CI type is one of Workstation/Server/Tablet
There's a perfectly viable workstation data filter in PDQI already (OS name includes Windows, doesn't include Server) and I could apply that to my report and export
*hostname *vendor *model
and then post-export, add "Workstation" as a value in the "CI Type" column that I add to that report output, but ideally I would like to do this "inside" PDQI reporting and this is a capability of a lot of other reporting tools I have used in the past - essentialy the ability to define some static or dynamic content that is included in a report either just plain old hard-coded, or sometimes as a result of a calculation on parameters similar to those mentioned above.
I'd appreciate if someone can let me know if this is possible (where / how) or if I'm over-stretching PDQI's capabilities and I should just plan to handle this type of thing with post-processing.
