Mass update data like O/S and SP

Hi,

Is there any way to do a mass update/import of the O/S related fields in PDQ Inventory?

I have 2000+ machines that I need to update with this information. Most of them are not on the network or is a Linux or CE edition that I can't scan. I would hate to have to go through each of them to update this information..

  • We don't have any built-in tools to do this. You can insert that data directly into the database with a script, but make sure to make a backup of the database first.

If you're OK with it not being the same field as your scannable machines, you could use Custom Fields and the Custom Field Import Wizard. https://documentation.pdq.com/PDQInventory/18.1.38.0/importwizard.htm

  • Hi Colby,

I did try the script that was posted some time ago. I think it was a PowerShell script for populating product keys. Tried to modify it, but it only resulted in a corrupt DB. A custom field is an option, but it would be best to have the OS information in the same field.
