New ideas for replacing the agent?

Has there been any movement on replacing the agent? I am trying to explain to my boss that we need to stay with PDQ products and can still deploy software or use for inventory. But because other products have agents that keep up or check in, he is considering not renewing when its time. So I would love to give some kind of update if possible,

Thanks,

Donna

  • No, we do not have any news on the Agent. It is unlikely we will have a replacement for it any time soon. We recommend setting up an always-on VPN if you can.

  • So this is what needs to be used for deploying any of the PDQ collections and not private still correct?

  • I'm sorry, but I don't understand your question.

  • Sorry, I meant the packages that PDQ has and not custom private packages that we make in house.

  • Yes, if you want to be able to deploy packages and scan computers that are not on your network, you will need to set up some kind of VPN.

  • Hi Colby,

what do we do when we already have a VPN solution that doesn't allow for scanning and deployment? (Direct Access, which is IPv6-based)

In other words, we really need an agent.
