Install print driver (not actual printer object)

is there a way w/ PDQ to JUST remotely install a print driver (into Print Management) w/out actually installing a printer? reason i ask is we use other methods (Citrix WEM) to install specific printers and just need to deploy the actual printer driver since end users don't have local admin permissions so need that print driver present so that the printer can be added when we need it to

  • awesome thanks! so those commands worked perfect when run locally but having a PDQ error saying Invalid INF passed as parameter.  the original drivers are on a network share so i'm not sure if its a credential issue maybe?

  • That's a likely culprit. Make sure your Deployment User has access to that share. Also, make sure you're not running as Local System.

  • well i got a little further using the copy command to copy the driver down to c:\windows\temp first but now get the error in the pnputil step saying the hash for the file is not prsent in the specified catalog . if i run that locally it seems to work fine though

  • looks like its a popup for publisher verification actually. can that be bypassed silently?

  • Please post a screenshot of that popup. We are unable to reproduce that issue here.

  • alright i got past it by finding a variation on the driver that WAS digitally signed. i couldnt find any working method to get windows to ignore that pop up so that was causing the issue.  thanks for the help!
