Remove program from Programs and Features

So I created an uninstall job that successfully uninstalls the program. However after the uninstall is complete the program is still showing in Program and Features. How can I also have the job remove the entry? I know the job runs successfully because the program (Tableau Reader) is not in the start menu anymore.

  • There's probably a leftover registry entry. What command did you use for your uninstall package?

  • The command i used was msiexec /QN /X {534F015C-86B9-4592-869C-43FEB77363C7}. When I go back into the registry the entry is gone.

  • Hmm, that should have worked. There are 2 places in the registry that Programs & Features pulls from (that I know of).

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

  • I forgot about the WOW6432Node. The registry key is still in there. Now to figure out how to remove it.
