Running VB Script to close Outlook

Hello,

I found a VB Script that closes Outlook.  I verified the script works fine when you double click it (it closes Outlook as expected).  However, when I try to deploy it as an install step with PDQ, it comes back as successful but does not close Outlook on the target machine.  I've tried deploying the script as both the deployment user and the logged on user.  Any ideas as to what could be missing for this simple script or what I should be checking for.

Thank You

  • It could be the difference between cscript.exe and wscript.exe. Deploy uses cscript.exe, but your script may require wscript.exe. This is just a guess though; I have very little experience with VBS. I'm much more familiar with PowerShell :)

  • Thank you for the reply.  Are you familiar with a powershell script that would accomplish the same thing?

  • Usually I close applications by just killing their process: Stop-Process Outlook (I don't have Outlook, so I'm guessing the process name).
