Computers Discovered via Network Discovery are not being added with an IP address

Good Morning,

I am running a large network discovery job to find 200+ PCs that are not on the domain. PDQ Inventory finds and scans the devices using local admin password. The IP addresses are renamed to the host name of the PC, but once that happens the computers show offline. I open the computer details screen and the mac address is there, but no IP address.

The plan was to use PDQ deploy to push out scripts to get these computers on the domain, but I can not do that if the computer profile does not have an IP address.

Anyone have any advice?

  • Inventory populates the IP Address field by looking up the hostname in DNS. I assume these targets do not have DNS records.

I recommend reaching out to support@pdq.com to tell them about your use case. However, a code change is unlikely to happen quickly, so it will likely be faster to create DNS records for those machines.
