How Can I Run PDQ Inventory Client without Local Administrator Permissions?
We have a non-local admin who would like to access to PDQ Inventory, but the client installation requires local administrator. Is there a way around this? Otherwise, we may need to grant RDP access to the server with local admin.

Can we delegate the right to manage services (start, stop, etc.) to the user without making them a full admin? Like this: How to Grant Users Rights to Manage Services (Start, Stop, Etc.) - TechNet Articles - United States (English) - TechNet Wiki (microsoft.com)
That is not currently possible. I recommend submitting a feature request to support@pdq.com.
Thank you. I will.
Why is local admin needed to run the console?
The console currently needs to be able to start the Background Service. Client mode uses the same EXE as Local Mode.
On the machine with the console, the PDQInventory service is disabled. The server machine is different, of course.
Any updates on this? Did the feature request get anywhere?
We also find it very regrettable that you need admin rights to start the console. After all, the work on the clients is carried out by the central server with the access data stored there.
