Scan Profile Triggers - Scan Age and Initial Scan

We have a scan profile with a trigger of 'When scan age is 7 days old'. The scan profile is assigned to the 'All Computers' collection. The scan profile doesn't run on a new computer unless someone manually scans the computer. What do we need to set to make the scan profile initiate the first time so that the aging takes effect? Thanks.

  • I think the "scan age" is based on any scan being run, not on that specific scan being run. So for example if you set your standard scan profile to run when scan age is over 7 days and set your applications scan profile to run daily the standard scan profile will never run because the "scan age" never goes over 1 day.

I might be mistaken about this though, maybe someone from PDQ can clarify.

  • When you add a computer, it should always start the default Scan Profile, and any with a Scan Age trigger. The Scan Age triggers may take a couple minutes to fire, but the default should start right away.

  • Thanks. This is not a default scan profile.

    1. Which version of Inventory are you on? 19.3.48.0?
    2. How are you adding computers?
    3. If you wait a few minutes, does the scan eventually start itself?
    4. How many computers do you have in Inventory?

  • Nothing looks out of place to me. It should be working. I recommend reaching out to support@pdq.com.
